# Open Finance Data MCP: Your bank data in your AI, through Open Finance.

Connect your account to the AI assistant you already use and check your statements, spending and cards in natural language. Authorization is secure and done through your bank, with no Cumbuca account needed.

## The problem: Your financial data is yours, but accessing it is still hard.

Open Finance was created to give people back control of their own data. In practice, accessing that data still requires a Central Bank license or a hired intermediary. For anyone who wants to see their own data, understand how Open Finance works or test an idea, there was no simple path.

> AI made it easier to access code and build apps. We want to do the same with financial data. (Daniel Ruhman, CEO of Cumbuca)

## The solution: An MCP server that brings your data to AI.

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the standard that lets assistants like ChatGPT and Claude use external data sources. The Open Finance Data MCP is that source: with your authorization, the AI queries your bank data directly through Open Finance.

- **Secure authorization at your bank:** You approve access in your bank's app, with biometrics or your password, like any Open Finance consent. You don't create a Cumbuca account or share any credentials.
- **Access you can revoke:** Consent can be canceled at any time, and the AI loses access to your data.
- **Works with the AI you already use:** ChatGPT, Claude, Claude Code and any MCP-compatible AI.

## Test Open Finance with real data.

- **Developers:** See in practice how Open Finance APIs work with your own data, with no license and no infrastructure.
- **AI users:** Ask for spending analyses, budgets and consumption patterns based on your real statement.
- **Fintech product teams:** Prototype use cases with real data before investing in a license or an intermediary, and validate the idea sooner.

## How it works: Set up in under 5 minutes.

1. **Add the server:** Copy the MCP server URL and paste it into your AI client's settings (Claude, ChatGPT or another compatible client).
2. **Authorize through Open Finance:** Enter your CPF and choose your bank. Authorization follows the standard Open Finance flow, regulated by the Central Bank.
3. **Ask about your data:** Ask for summaries, compare periods, analyze categories. The AI queries your data at the moment you ask.

## From statement to spreadsheet, in one question.

A few requests that work well once your account is connected.

- **Credit card:** "What are the 5 places where I spent the most on my card in the last 3 months?"
- **Monthly spreadsheet:** "Create a spreadsheet with all my October expenses, split by category"
- **Long history:** "Show my spending month by month for the last 10 months, as a table"
- **Cutting costs:** "Where can I cut back to save R$ 500 a month?"
- **Spending patterns:** "Which day of the week do I spend the most?"
- **Quick summary:** "Give me a summary of this month's spending"

## Set it up now.

Pick your AI client and follow the instructions. It takes less than 5 minutes.

### Claude Desktop

Open Claude Desktop or claude.ai

Go to Customize → Connectors → Add custom connector

Paste the server URL:

```
https://mcp.cumbuca.com/mcp
```

Click "Add"

On your first query, the Open Finance authentication flow starts automatically

> Company-paid account (Teams/Enterprise)? Only the organization Owner can add connectors, so you probably won't see this option. Ask your admin to enable the Cumbuca connector, or use a personal Claude.ai account.

### ChatGPT

Turn on Developer mode: Settings → Security and login → Developer mode

Create a new connector: give it a name and, under Connection, choose the public endpoint

Paste the server URL:

```
https://mcp.cumbuca.com/mcp
```

Confirm the connection

On your first query, you will be redirected to authenticate via Open Finance

### Claude Code

In the terminal, run:

```
claude mcp add --transport http \
  cumbuca \
  https://mcp.cumbuca.com/mcp
```

Restart Claude Code

On your first query, the Open Finance authentication flow starts automatically

### Other clients

Add the server to your client's MCP configuration:

```
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "cumbuca-openfinance": {
      "url": mcpServerUrl
    }
  }
}
```

### Technical details

- **Server URL:** `https://mcp.cumbuca.com/mcp`
- **Protocol:** MCP (Model Context Protocol)
- **Authentication:** Open Finance (CPF + bank selection)

- **Available data:** Bank statement + credit card
- **Current restriction:** 1 account at a time (Only accounts you hold (CPF))
- **On the roadmap:** Multiple accounts and banks

**Your data is not used for commercial purposes.** The data you query via MCP is not stored on our servers. The records we are required to keep by regulation are encrypted in two layers and accessed exclusively for reporting to the Central Bank.

## What happens to your data.

The Open Finance Data MCP follows the Central Bank's rules for data sharing. In practice:

- **Explicit consent:** You authorize each connection yourself, one by one. No permission is granted by default.
- **Revocation at any time:** You cancel access on the consent management page, without having to talk to anyone.
- **Data not stored:** The query happens in real time: the AI accesses, answers, and the bank data isn't kept on our servers.
- **Regulatory records encrypted:** The metadata regulation requires us to keep is encrypted in two layers. Internal access is limited to audit and reporting to the Central Bank, and is never used for analysis or commercial purposes.

## Talk to your financial data.

Set it up in under 5 minutes, with no sign-up and no cost.

- **Setup:** 5 min
- **Sign-up:** Not required
- **Cost:** R$ 0
